8 Reasons to Line Dry Your Clothes

While most people around the world line dry their clothes, most Americans can be seen putting their clothes in the dryer. Line drying clothes takes more patience and work, but it’s worth it. You may not even know the benefits of line drying your clothes.

1. Have you ever smelled sunshine?

No?! Then you most defintely need to line dry your clothes, or at least your bed sheets once in a while. You will be amazed at the clean sunshine you can smell. Well worth your time!

2. No one else is doing it

If you’re all about being different (like me) and doing something that isn’t the same as everyone else, then line dry your clothes. You can have the inside satisfaction of knowing you’re saving money and no one else is.

3. You don’t need a dryer

(Awesome way to save money!) If you’re going to line dry (inside and outside) then you don’t need a dryer. You don’t have to worry about a dryer breaking down. You don’t have to worry about the expense of buying a dryer. Sounds like a win-win to me!

4. Maintenance free life

Dryers take work. You have to take the lint out every time you dry. You have to worry about the breaking or not staying plugged in. You even have to worry about the chance of a potential fire. After all, dryers are a large part of home fires. In fact “2,900 home clothes dryer fires are reported each year and cause an estimated 5 deaths, 100 injuries, and $35 million in property loss (FEMA).”

5. You can line dry inside or outside

Line drying is probably the least complicated thing in the world. You can line dry in your house or out on the line. You can hang clothes up in your bathroom or in your basement using clothes line. Whatever works for you!

6. You’re helping out the planet

Someday we’re all going to look back and wish we could have done more to reserve energy. You can say you did your part by line drying, you can honestly say you did something to help preserve energy.

7. Keep your house cooler

When you have a dryer running, especially in the summer, it can make your house feel extra warm. Line drying eliminates the need to run a dryer and keep your house even hotter.

8. Free whitener

You will notice that those whites of your are actually white because of the sun. Say goodbye to dingy clothes and hello to clothes that are brighter! Thank goodness, no more bleach!

Okay, maybe there are more reasons, or even better reasons to line dry your clothes but these work for me.
